STYLE GUIDE AND LOCATION INFORMATION

Deciding what to wear for a photo session can be really hard work! So I thought it would be a good idea to provide you with some wardrobe inspiration for your bluebell session with the insight of knowing what works best on camera to give your images the wow factor.

Treat Yourselves

So you’ve spent time choosing me, you’re invested in making this family session the best it can be. Don’t stop there. If you don’t feel you have clothes in your wardrobe that will enhance your photos, pop to Zara or H&M. Zara’s colours and style are so on point at the moment, if you choose something from there you won’t go wrong.

I can’t express enough how what you wear can dramatically change an image from just OK to great.

NEUTRALS

As a family pick a colour palette of 3-4 neutral colours. For bluebells, think blue tones, earth tones, neutrals. Pastels are great on children. Everyone will be able to wear something that suits them whilst complimenting each other perfectly.

Don’t match - but co-ordinate.
Gone are the days of everyone wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans. Thankfully!
No logos or character clothing.
I considered typing ‘avoid logos’ but I want you to do more than just avoid logos and character clothing! Your child may love Paw Patrol but my camera does not and it will probably really mess the with overall look of your shoot if you compromise on this!
No bold patterns.
The focus of these images is really meant to be on you so I do recommend from avoiding check shirts or big florals for example. They can be very distracting.
Movement & layers
Mums - wearing long, neutral flowing dresses can really add a special look to your images. Something slightly boho for want of a better word! Using over shirts on top of a a pair of chinos is a great way to add texture to your images.
Textures.
Mixing textures adds a great depth to your images. Think knits, cottons, linen, corduroy & denim.
Most importantly.
Even having said all of that, what I really want most of all is for you to be comfortable. I would hate for your usual style to be over sized hoodies and baggy jeans and yet you feel you need to adorn a dress to make a pretty picture. That’s not what I’m saying. You do you! But if pushing yourself a tiny bit outside of your comfort zone sounds appealing then go for it!

LOCATION: FAIR OAK, SO50 7HB

I’ve chosen this particular woods due to its accessibility. It’s a great display but not too vast making it easy for families with small children. It’s also very light on brambles which typically accompany Bluebells and can be troublesome! It’s also much easier to reach and less busy than the likes of Micheldever Woods. To easiest way to find the Woods is to head to The Fox & Hounds Pub in Fair Oak. The full address is The Fox & Hounds, 3 Winchester Road, Fair Oak. Eastleigh, Hampshire, SO50 7HB. The pub has a car park. When I visited the Woods I parked there, however please check for any signs which detail any parking rules.

There is then a path to the right hand side of the pub. Follow the path. You’ll see the sign post below. Take a right. You’ll then see a sign welcoming you to Upper Barn Copse. And this is where you’ll find me. Here are some directions with images. My number is 07843 563807 should you need it.
