DOCUMENTARY MEETS EDITORIAL

Thank you for taking time out to read through this wedding booking guide. Hopefully it won’t keep you too long but go grab a glass of wine or a mug of coffee before you delve in. As you know, I’m Nicola (Nic) and I have been shooting wedding since 2013. You’ve probably read a bit about me on my website so I won’t bore you with any more information, but I will say that being a wedding photographer is a job that I adore and I give it my all. I strive for my photos to be a mix of art and photojournalism. To be modern and timeless but above all – natural. I thrive on the excitement and emotion of wedding days and it’s my aim to capture it all. I’m always looking for good light, contrasting backgrounds and try to incorporate movement into my images. I’m in love with the in-between moments, the times when you don’t realise you’re being photographed. A wedding is one of life’s greatest celebrations. Capturing it on camera should be an easy and enjoyable experience!

ABOUT

I began my photography career shooting families in 2012. Instagram was new then (sound old much?) and I quickly grew obsessed with taking photos but frustrated by the limitations of my camera phone and its addictive app. And that’s when I bought my first little DSLR, Lightroom and the rest, as they say, is history. Weddings were a happy accident born in 2013. I’m completely self taught. Photography is so important to me. The role it plays in my life is far more than that of a profession. It’s my passion. It makes me feel and when I deliver your gallery I want you to get the feels too. Photographs become more important with every passing year. None of us are getting any younger.

EXPECTATIONS

My aim is to shoot your wedding as naturally and unobtrusively as possible. The days of being bellowed at by a photographer are, thankfully, over. You can expect me to provide some gentle direction where needed, such as portraits of the two of you and by arranging a confetti moment. But the rest really is me simply capturing your days as it happens. This presents your unique story.

Your portrait session will include a walk together. I’ll ask you to interact, have a cuddle and will encourage laughter and connection. My couples are always surprised at how painless this part of the day is and how quickly the time goes! Having said that, I don’t keep you away from the celebrations for too long. Just enough time to allow you a breather and a few moments together. And ultimately, I am always led by you.

FAQ’s

Are you insured?

Yes I am. I have professional indemnity, public liability and equipment coverage.

How will you keep our photos safe? What’s your back up system?

I use two cameras all day and these have two memory cards in each. I then copy these over to two hard drives and keep all the images on the cards until your images are delivered online. They then live on two hard drives and in their online home (your gallery) for a year.

What if you’re ill on the day?

This question has taken on a new lease of life since Covid. I have only every missed one wedding and that was due to having covid at the time. I am part of a trusted community of photographers, we call upon each other in our hours of need which thankfully, isn’t very often. Should none of these photographers be available, I am in multiple emergency coverage groups on social media. And remember, I am as unlikely as you are to be too ill to attend your wedding.

Do you send previews/sneak peeks?

Yes, around 20-30 no later than three days after the wedding. How long until we get the rest of our images? Peak season is 8 weeks.

My booking process stress free and done online using e-signatures. You accept a quote, complete a questionnaire and sign a contract. Booking is completed with the payment of a deposit. This is £300 and paid by BACS into my business account. The balance is due one month before your wedding. You can then print all correspondence for your records.

PLANNING YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY

I want to give you the best experience- and the best photos- possible. And to do that, I need to know what’s going on. So in the months before your wedding, I’ll send you some questionnaires to fill out, and have a call with you to make sure everything’s planned to perfection.

It’s just handy to have written down in one place all the things you need to do, what you can expect, and when.

Once you’re booked in I will also send you a full Welcome Guide with lots of helpful information.

REVIEWS

Lauren & Mike

Nicola absolutely blew us away with our wedding photography and I would recommend her to anyone. She managed the perfect balance of guiding us to get the best pictures while still disappearing into the background so we could enjoy every moment of our day.

Georgia & Mike

As soon as we saw Nicolas Instagram page we knew she was our kind of photographer! She captured precious moments of us and our wedding party that we will cherish forever. Nicola understood exactly what we wanted and more! I couldn’t recommend her more highly if I tried! thank you so much Nic! x

Evie & Jon

Nicola photographed our wedding in March 2022 and we are beyond delighted with the incredible photos we received. We are not a couple that enjoy having our photograph taken and we wanted a natural, candid approach and Nicola managed to capture every single moment and more. Real, natural smiles without ever feeling forced or posed. You are in very safe hands with Nicola and her amazing talent. Thank you again, Evie & Jon x

Leo & Sam

Nicola captured stunning photos of the best day of our lives. She was an absolute pro from the second she walked in the door. We love the candid photos of our guests. When it came to our couple shots I was worried it would be awkward but with Nicola's friendly nature and brilliant direction we felt at ease and she managed to get the perfect photos. She was so patient throughout the day especially when it came to large group shots. We love the richness of colour, the lighting and angles in the photos. The classic black and white photos are beautiful too. My only issue now is resisting putting every single photo into an album (there are more than 700). Thank you Nicola you are a phenomenal photographer!

Rachel & Philip

Firstly, my husband and I simply can’t get over how much we love EVERY picture that Nic supplied us. We were told from family and friends how important it was to get a few photos of your day that you love, to keep forever. So, we made sure to pick our photographer carefully… never did we expect to get nearly 800 pictures, all of which we LOVE. Everyone keeps saying how stunning the tone of these pictures are, and how natural and non-posed they are. Also, she quoted a six-week turnaround time for all the images as September was a mental month for weddings… she got them to us in three!! Three!

Aside from the beautiful images, Nic’s way with her ‘subjects’ was what stood out to us the most. Both of us aren’t natural photo subjects, but straight away on the day Nic made us feel relaxed and we had lots of fun. She also took charge (in a nice way!) with our family and friends when getting them ready for the “family shots” which was a huge help! It was an absolute pleasure to have Nic as part of our day, thank you!!”
