HOW TO PREPARE AND WHAT TO WEAR FOR YOUR OUTDOOR FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION

I usually ask my families to wear earthy neutral and pastel colours. These colours work incredibly well with my editing and my brand and really really allow for keeping the focus on you! Zara seems to offer foolproof options for children with the best styles and colours.

Heavy patterns and logos/character clothing will really detract from the timeless look we are aiming for and confuse the aesthetic.

It’s best to co-ordinate but not match. Pick a few key colours and put everyone in variations of this.

Dresses capture the wind and movement in images and can add a really beautiful dimension.

I am always on hand to help with clothing conundrums. Feel free to WhatsApp me your options and we can decide what would work best together. 07843 563807.

PREPARING YOUR CHILDREN FOR A PHOTO SESSION

Make sure you let your children know that they’ll be having a little adventure and having their picture taken. I find it best not to talk about it too much or put too much emphasis on it, but do let them know and then remind them what will be happening on the day.
When we meet, we will have a chat and I will introduce myself to the children. I’ll let them get used to me and be very much guided by them.

Having their photo taken may be thirsty or hungry work ;) Instead of chocolate or biscuits, I find marshmallows and basically anything that doesn’t make a messy face. the best things to bring. Sometimes they’ll being their favourite teddy or toy and I sometimes use these to help press my shutter. They usually find this quite funny!

It’s really important that, even if the children aren’t feeling cooperative, that we don’t let them see any frustrations! We have time and will use it to ensure that we capture happy children.
